Generation Divide: Are Your Styling Choices Gen Z or Millennial? đ
Sock styles, shirt tucks, and the death of skinny jeans.
Sorry, Skinniesâ2024 Is Officially the Year of Oversized Denim. The baggy clothing trend is not going anywhere, so much so that baggy jeans jumped from 8% to 80% of Pacsunâs denim sales in just one year, according to Glossy. Pacsunâs latest back-to-school campaign, "Better in Baggy," is about embracing oversized silhouettes, not just denim. And the trend is backed by data from Google, which shows searches for baggy jeans have officially surpassed that of skinny jeans. -S
Are Your Styling Choices Giving Gen Z or Millennial? Your answer to our last question might just say it all. Just like the skinny vs. baggy jeans debate that split generations, sock preferences and how you tuck your shirt are the next battleground.Â
When it comes to socks, it's all about how they're worn: ankle socks or crew socks? Rolled up or barely visible? If youâre wearing low-cut, barely-there socks, itâs a good bet youâre 30-plus. But Gen Z? Theyâre all about bold, colorful crew socks. As this debate heats up, itâs clear that socks are more than just a wardrobe stapleâtheyâre a statement. So next time you reach for a pair, remember, youâre not just covering your feet; youâre declaring your generational style allegiance. - S
Itâs Leo Szn, Rawr. Wish a happy birthday to your Leo besties, like our very own Sarah, as we welcome in Leo season from July 22- August 22. Itâs a time for standing out, expressing yourself, and being bold. According to astrologists, this is a time to face your fears, work through whatâs holding you back, step into your power and the spotlight, and shine bright. Some tips for becoming the main character in your own life? Take that class youâve been wanting to take, post that video on social media youâre afraid is âcringe,â or share how you really feel with someone close to you. Iâm obsessed with the Chani app for getting free personalized horoscopes. -K
Return of â90s Brands. This month, two tween classicsâLimited Too and No Boundariesâreturned. Walmart has spent three years redesigning its assortment of young adult apparel to make it stylish and sensible for middle America. The new collection includes of-the-moment styles like baggy jeans, cropped T-shirts, faux leather corsets, and bomber jackets. Last month, Lana Del Ray was spotted in this $11 No Boundaries top. -S
Self Perception Dysmorphia. I wonât say the hot topic, but one hot topic of the summer is body dysmorphia. If I see one more video asking, âWhat blindness do I have?â Iâm going to cry into my keyboard. Yes, donât get me wrong, the eyebrow filter on TikTok made me pinpoint where my eyebrows are uneven, so I can better fill them in, but at what point are we drawing the line between educational beauty content and self-scrutiny? -S
A report from Parliamentâs Women and Equalities Committee revealed that 48% of adults and 66% of children often feel negatively about their body image.
Then we have the âspeck of dustâ trend on TikTok, where people compare themselves to a speck of dust when they make a healthy decision, like ordering water at dinner or opting for fruit over dessert.
No One is Buying Ice Cream. After a peak in 2020, when lockdowns led to a surge in at-home ice cream indulgence, sales have been falling, according to 84.51Ë. It seems people might have bought the TikTok-famous Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker to save on food costs. TikTok user @sewerlidd reported their grocery bill has skyrocketed, with a 2022 order costing $126 now jumping to $414ânearly four times the original price. -S

The Summer of Staycations. Hotels are increasingly making some of their most desirable amenities, like pools, lounges, and fitness centers, available to day pass holders. This spring, Hilton announced a partnership with ResortPass, the leading seller of day passes. Even Titoâs is encouraging us to swap the TSA lines for the luxuries hidden behind our front door. A survey from the vodka brand found that 60% of Millennials, 62% of Gen Z, and 55% of all respondents are opting for staycations this summer. -S
Grocery Store Tourism. When visiting a new country, your first thought is to probably go sightseeing. But one of our favorite things to do, and apparently the internet thought the same, is to visit the local grocery store. Trending on TikTok, people are sharing their love for grocery stores abroad and their unique finds, from chips and candies to sauces and milk in a bag. Personally, we think potato chip flavors are the biggest indicator of what a country is all about. Sarah and I have made it our mission to try every seemingly odd chip flavor in the countries we visit. Here are our chip reviews from France and Ireland. Hamburger flavor, anyone? -K

Kristin: The Fleur du Mal Organic Cotton Bra is on sale and you can be sure I got it as Iâve been on a huge organic cotton kick lately.
Sarah: This Ganni straw bag has been on my arm every day this summer. Itâs big enough to fit all my things, and the front pocket keeps everything semi-organized. Unfortunately, Iâve only spotted ONE on Poshmark :(

Kristin: Funny Story, Emily Henry. This book was gifted to me and itâs hard to put down. The main character is dumped by her fiance right before their weddingâŚand then falls in love with her exâs exâŚItâs less cheesy than it sounds, I swear.
Sarah: Being from Baltimore and into all things true crime, Lady in the Lake with Natalie Portman has been at the top of my list since it came out last week. Based on Laura Lippman's 2019 novel, it parallels the real-life murders of Ester Lebowitz and Shirley Parker.

I saw gen z wearing baggy pants and crew socks, so I bought baggy pants and crew socks.
